What parking notices often leave unclear

Timing and how it was issued
When and how a notice was sent can be relevant. There are rules around how notices must be served — not all follow them in full.
Signage and terms
The terms and restrictions need to have been clearly displayed at the location. If signage was unclear or inconsistent, that may be relevant.
Camera evidence
Where a notice is based on camera evidence, the timestamps, vehicle details and image quality may be worth understanding before you pay.

Use this if

You are not sure whether the notice is from a private company or a council
You want to understand the evidence, timing and terms before deciding whether to pay or appeal
You want calm, professional response wording if you decide to write back

Things people usually ask

Can I speak to someone by phone?
We don't offer phone consultations. Everything is delivered in writing by email, which lets us review every document carefully and keep the service affordable. You'll get something you can read, save, and refer back to.
What happens to my document after I upload it?
It's used only to prepare your overview. It is not shared with third parties, advertisers, or any other organisation.
What is the difference between a private parking charge and a council PCN?
A council PCN is issued by a local authority and is a form of civil enforcement. A private parking charge is a contractual claim from a private company. They follow different rules and different appeal routes — which is one of the first things an overview will clarify.
Do I have to pay before the deadline or can I check first?
Private notices often offer a lower amount for early payment — but paying early also closes off the appeal option. Council PCNs typically allow a formal challenge within 28 days. A brief overview first can help you decide what makes sense before that window closes.
What happens after I upload?
You receive a free first check by email — typically by the next working day before 4pm. This gives you an overview of the notice and flags any points worth considering. If you want more detail, a fuller overview with a draft response is available for £19.
Can you guarantee the charge will be cancelled?
No. An overview helps you understand what the notice contains and whether there are points worth considering. What you decide to do next is entirely your choice.
Is this legal advice?
No. DoIPayThat provides plain-language parking notice overviews and response drafts. It does not provide legal advice or legal representation.
